In our bizspeak blog this week, we’ll stick to the movie theme and use the movie related idiom “ cut to the chase” in a business setting.
”Cut to the chase” means get straight to the main point of what you want to say/communicate without wasting time. (In movies “the chase” is the most exciting scene)
Manager: Alright everybody, let’s start the meeting. And due to the limited time we have today, I’ll cut right to the chase.
The manager is letting the meeting attendees know that there won’t be time for small talk or pleasantries in today’s meeting.
Do you usually cut to the chase in your meetings or make small talk before you get to the meeting’s agenda?
