Travel English - Starting a conversation

One of the best ways to enhance our travelling is to communicate with other people, locals or other travellers.

The best time to talk to someone is when they are not moving, for example when you are standing in line, or when you are sitting down on a bench or a nearby table. It’s best not to stop someone when they are walking on the road.

Here are some generic phrases we can use to start a conversation:

The weather is so nice today.
Are you from around here?
There sure are many people here today!
Are you here on business or on vacation?
Are these your kids? They are so cute!
What kind of dog is that? ← Only if they are holding a dog

話すのに一番いいタイミングは、彼らが動いていないときです。例えば、列に並んでるときや、ベンチやテーブルの近くに座っているときです。
彼らが歩いてるのを止めて話すことはいい方法ではありません。

私たちが会話の始めに使う、いくつかの一般的なフレーズを紹介します。

今日は本当に人が多いですね！
仕事で来ているんですか？バケーションで来ているんですか？
